Solution overview

This solution adopts an innovative split modular architecture built on edge-cloud AI and whole-home laser SLAM navigation to enable autonomous movement throughout indoor spaces. The intelligent mobile chassis uses a D-Robotics chip as its core computing platform for motion and navigation. The system comprises three hardware units: an emotional interaction unit, an intelligent mobile chassis, and a portable expansion module. These units can be flexibly recombined to meet the needs of different scenarios.

Core advantages

Split modular design
  • the interaction unit works independently when detached from the chassis, supporting portable deployment, easy assembly and disassembly, and flexible form factors
Dedicated chassis edge computing
  • a D-Robotics chip handles laser SLAM mapping, environmental perception, obstacle-avoidance planning, and motion control, processing sensor data locally in real time to reduce cloud dependence and improve navigation response
Edge-cloud AI
  • the interaction unit handles multimodal perception and human-machine interaction; the D-Robotics chip runs chassis navigation and motion algorithms; the cloud handles model updates, data aggregation, and multi-device management, balancing responsiveness with ongoing AI improvement
Whole-home autonomous navigation
  • laser SLAM mapping, autonomous obstacle avoidance, and waypoint patrols enable free indoor movement and automatic return to charge
Multimodal emotional interaction
  • voice conversations, visual recognition, and expressive feedback accommodate the interaction habits of older adults, children, and other users
Cloud fleet management
  • batch device-status monitoring, remote configuration, and log collection support large-scale institutional deployment

Application scenarios

Home scenarios

Daily companionship, remote video calls, home security patrols, and daily reminders help keep household members safe.

Deployment architecture

The system comprises terminal hardware, local perception, AI capabilities, and cloud management layers.

Terminal hardware layer
The terminal hardware consists of an interaction unit and a mobile chassis. The mobile chassis uses a D-Robotics chip as its main controller to process LiDAR and other sensor data for SLAM navigation and motion control. The interaction unit independently handles audio and video capture, voice conversations, and emotional interaction.
Local perception layer
The local perception layer ensures offline navigation and basic interaction.
AI capability layer
The AI capability layer provides speech, vision, and emotion algorithms.
Cloud management layer
The cloud management platform supports device operations, content delivery, and data statistics.

Hardware selection

Emotional interaction unit
Human-machine interaction output

High-resolution display, microphone array, camera, and speaker for human-machine interaction output;

Mobile chassis
SLAM mapping, environmental perception, and patrol motion control

D-Robotics main controller, drive wheels, LiDAR, obstacle-avoidance sensors, and charging module, dedicated to SLAM mapping, environmental perception, and patrol motion control;

Portable expansion module
Portable use and independent operation away from the chassis

Lightweight accessories that can be carried separately and operate independently when detached from the chassis.

Deployment methods

Single-device home deployment: one device maps quickly and is ready to use out of the box; institutional fleet deployment: centralized registration and management through the cloud platform, with multi-robot scheduling and group-based operations and maintenance.
